Salman Taseer died within Islamabad onto 4th January, 2011 at Kohsar Market within Islamabad. The attacker shot dead via the defenders of Salman Taseer. He was shifted towards the closest hospital as soon as the Attack. But he scumbbed towards his injuries.



APL condoles the death of Governor Punjab Salman Taseer

LONDON, Jan 4 (APP)- The UK-based Association of Pakistani Lawyers (APL) Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the assassination of Punjab Governor Salman Taseer in Islamabad and described it a big blow to Pakistani politics.In a statement APL Chairman Barrister Amjad Malik said that people may differ with his politics, statements and ideas, in particular his pro active comments on blasphemy laws of Pakistan, but the way he has been eliminated is unlawful, unnecessary, and uncalled for and it is a fatal blow to the smooth running of the political business in Pakistan.“This is a wrong message to public and tolerance must be preached at this juncture as arguments are best won through dialogue, and not through bullets.
We need to bridge the gap between Islam and West not to widen it further. It’s a sad moment for Pakistan and all at sundry must play their role to calm the law and order situation in Pakistan,” Malik further said.
He demanded that those involved in this heinous crime must be brought to books forthwith and given exemplary punishment.
Meanwhile, the PPP UK President Hasan Ahmed Bokhari also expressed his deep anguish and sorrow over the tragic death of Mr.Taseer and said the party has lost another key member of its current administration.
In a statement issued by PPP Media cell, Bokhari said the party will continue its struggle against extremism, radicalism and fanaticism which also cost the life of its leader Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
He urged all the political stake holders to rise to the occasion and join together to confront this menace which has brought negative image of the country abroad.
Bokhari said he has directed all the party activists in the UK to observe two-week mourning period for late Taseer whom he described as “enlightened person” who worked for the downtrodden masses of the country.
